TCMP Selected to play Colorado State Fair

The Country Music Project is proud to announce their upcoming performance on the Main Amphitheater Stage at the Colorado State Fair - August 26th, 2012 - 6:00pm-11:00pm.

TCMP's Rice said "It's really an honor. A year ago we thought events like the State Fair, or Taste of Colorado were out of reach for TCMP. But the way the group has grown and the music's come together, we're starting to feel right at home on these kinds of stages and in front of thousands of people."

When asked how he came across TCMP, John Tabor, booking agent for the Fair said "Just starting to hear more about the group and we've seen the kinds of shows they're doing, so we thought it made sense."
One of the longest running fairs or festivals in Colorado history, the first event was called the Colorado State Fair and Exposition and was run by the Southern Colorado Agricultural and Industrial Association.  Although the exposition did not receive cash assistance from the state until 1903, the first exposition which preceded the State Fair was held on October 9, 1872.
The exposition operated with varying degrees of success at the Lake Minnequa grounds and soon after the turn of the century, somewhere around 1901, moved the present 80-acre site. At this time the show was operated by the State Fair Association, a non-profit organization owned by Pueblo people who were anxious to see the exposition survive.
The building program at the State Fair Grounds, started more than decade ago, has transformed that original 80-acre tract of barren prairie land into one of the finest and most durable State Fair plants in the nation.
